Anecdotes and Tips from an Ancient Angler

Becoming an Ancient Angler brings some responsibility, I believe, for sharing my life's experiences. Perhaps some day it will be possible to download one's brain. But my feeble mind and doddering fingers now find it hard to record very much of my favorite sport. How can a ninety-eight-year-old share even an iota of what he has learned in his lifetime? So, I settled for this small volume. It contains interesting facts, experiences, and tips for younger generations of fly fishermen and might also interest others who are curious about piscatology and the arcane and mystical sport of fly fishing. These include offshoots such as the mathematics of fly fishing and near-death experiences that can serve as lessons for anyone venturing into large, unknown waters.

As I have often claimed, this pursuit leads often to deeper transcendent experiences that link us more closely to Nature-not only the nature of life on Earth but also the nature of the cosmos.

For me, the absorbing and fulfilling pursuit of fly fishing can become one of these pathways.
