Carthage, Oklahoma, 1992. Three outsiders' lives intersect when a local televangelist and tent revivalist descends upon their small town. There is Reeve, a lonely man who still carries the blame for his twin brother's death from back when they were children. Then there's Neal, Reeve's childhood friend who skipped town ten years earlier. Now he's returned, and with him, his secrets. Reeve can't help but be drawn back into Neal's orbit, and their interactions take on an unexpected intimacy that both entices and frightens him. Lastly, there is Maze, a teenage girl whose mother has become involved with the religious group hosting the tent revival-much to her dismay. Her unlikely friendship with Reeve and Neal puts all three on a collision course with the townspeople as the date for the tent revival draws near, and event that will ultimately alter not only them, but the town of Carthage itself.
