GOS Ekhaguere was born in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. As a mathematician and mathematical physicist, he served on the editorial boards of several international academic journals and won many highly competitive and prestigious scholarships, sponsorships and appointments from diverse academic foundations and institutions. He was a Fellow of the globally renowned Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung. He is also a Fellow of the Nigerian Mathematical Society, a Fellow of the Institute of Operations Research and Management Sciences and a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences, the apex continental academic body. He is the founder and pioneer President of the International Centre for Mathematical & Computer Sciences. He has held multiple academic and administrative positions nationally and internationally. Of only two scholars from Edo State who have so far won the Nigerian National Order of Merit, Nigeria's highest award for academic and intellectual excellence, he is the State's first laureate in the category of science. He occupies the lifelong position of an Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Ibadan.
