Woven in the coming-of-age genre, ‘Jai Ram’ is a fascinating and disquieting story of how religious fundamentalism insidiously infects young minds (with powerful, persuasive arguments), and upends their lives and values. It attempts to tell this story in an interesting manner by mapping the mileu of the story with nativity that includes aspects such as youthful adventures, friendship dilemmas, familial relationships and above all, a strong romantic angle.
