Dr. B.R. Ambedkar served as the Minister of Law and Justice, and the Chairman of the Drafting Committee after India achieved its independe-nce in 1947. Ambedkar drafted several provisions in which he found the issues of States and minorities very challenging process. The Indian states, before independence, were ruled by the princely leaders, who were mostly apprehensive of joining the Indian Union.
