Dialectic is an anthology of 18 poems and is a cathartic attempt to journal some of my intrusive thoughts and yearnings. Dialectic, like the word insinuates, is a bold attempt at stirring up conversations and raising awareness over contentious issues like the Sewol Ferry disaster; Female Genital Mutilation; the apocryphal history of African textured hair; Japan's phone booth that carries voices into the wind to the dead; fatphobia; invisible domestic labour of women; about what's it like to be in a mature adult relationship, some of them based on true stories; memories of the inner child; sparing moments to be absolutely free, an arch nemesis, self-consciousness, about the dilemma of giving alms to hijras; and a couple of poems written in my teenage years. It is a quest to manifest the philosophy of the archaic African word - Ubuntu, which reminds us that 'I am what I am because of who we all are.'
