It tells the tale of a young prince who is captured by the Egyptians and sold into slavery, only to be forced into exile when his owner inadvertently kills a sacred cat. Chebron, a high priest's son in ancient Egypt, flees for his life with his sister Mysa, Amuba, a slave from the household, and a group of friends. They manage to escape through heavily guarded Egyptian exits only to land in strange and perilous places where a whole other culture of people live. Along the way, the exiles meet and become friends with a Jewish girl who teaches them some rather weird ideas, such as worshiping the "one true God."
