The book is based on true events in the life of a company commander in the Kashmir Valley with certain abridged versions to give it a fictional twist. A young company commander- ever intrigued by a tenure in the Kashmir valley, inducts and comes to terms with life in the valley. He has to quickly adapt, learn the tricks, motivate his command and out do a set of people who have been in the system way longer than him. While the officer is still coming to terms with the situation, he has to succumb to imparted knowledge from his peer group while he slowly learns to choose between conventional training and doing the spectacular. He is torn between looking within or outside his command. He has to pull himself out of his comfort zone to come to terms with the fact that conventional military training is good enough for him to succeed in the environment - that there can be simple techniques that can help him succeed. While he finds success, he has to fight against elements that abhor his success and are out to get him. Will he be lucky enough to survive to fight another day or will the elements get him?
