This reprint of the critical edition of the works of Gregory of Nyssa contains the letters of this 4th-century Church Father. Giorgio Pasquali’s edition was originally published in 1925, and (slightly emandated by Werner Jaeger) reprinted as part of the Gregorii Nysseni Opera in 1959. Gregory of Nyssa had a considerable influence on the thinking of his time with his philosophical and theological ideas, especially on the mystical tradition of the Eastern Churches. In these 30 letters, addressed to his Christian and non-Christian comtemporaries and covering a variety of topics, he shows spiritual and intellectural sharpness, as well as considerable ability in the use of the Greek language. The text features an extensive Latin preface, critical apparatus and a list of errata.
