Congress Volume Jerusalem 1986

A collection of 23 papers presented at an international congress on the study of the Old Testament. The articles cover a range of subjects, including the Pentateuch, the historical books, the Prophets, the Psalms, textual criticism, the Targums, the development of Israelite religion, the Babylonian New Year Festival and the Old Testament, and the Apocryphon of Jannes and Jambres. The contributors, who write in English, French or German, come from 11 different countries and belong to different religious traditions - Jewish, Protestant and Roman Catholic. They also represent different outlooks on Old Testament study and the book features both new methods and trends and more traditional points of view.
