Behind the Wall

Behind the Wall documents the second edition of an artistic project at the Havana Biennial, in which the city esplanade (el Malecon) was transformed into a street museum. This book brings together the sculptures, paintings, murals, installations and performances made by over 50 artists from Cuba and abroad, highlighting the interaction between works and public, as well as the invigorating effect of art on relationships and culture within the urban space. From Ernesto Garcia Sanchez’s pictorial schizophrenia to Jose Rosabal’s abstraction, from Pablo Rosendo’s anti-art mischief to Glexis Novoa’s atypical frescoes, Behind the Wall is an artistic melting pot engaged in dialogue with the city of Havana and its inhabitants. 270 images
