Each new mother has one thing in common - we're never truly sure if we're getting it right. How do we navigate this new and unfamiliar territory? The idea that one stage naturally and easily leads to the next feels somewhat ingrained in us from a young age. But there exists a strange limbo-land between maidenhood and becoming a mother. They say motherhood is the ultimate paradox - a juxtaposition of contradictory feelings that somehow make room for us to take the unimaginable and make it conquerable. A transition that rocks our very essence, as the core of our being gives birth to a new identity that is as difficult as birthing a baby.
Through this collection of deeply personal poems, the author shares her experiences of the inevitable rollercoaster ride of early motherhood, rooted in physical, psychological and emotional changes. It can be awkward, painful, funny, exciting, overwhelmingly beautiful and downright frustrating. It is any one thing while being everything.
