The overall objective of our study was to assess household solid waste management in Kiaku and Vumuka avenues. We conducted a prospective, cross-sectional study from June 3 to 17, 2024. A survey questionnaire was used to collect data relating to our study from 30 respondents. During our investigations, the following results were obtained: 100% of our respondents produce household solid waste on a daily basis; 46.7% store household solid waste in 25 Kg bags on a daily basis; 90% do not treat their waste before evacuating it from their homes; 40% evacuate their waste by dumping it in the Mangungu river and 100% recognize that solid waste has repercussions on the environment. Finally, poor solid waste management is at the root of multiple social, health, environmental and economic problems. To alleviate this ecological crisis, local residents are called upon to raise their awareness of safe and efficient management of household solid waste.
