As cities grow in population, so do the environmental problems caused by this growth. The main aim of this research was to assess the environmental impacts with the greatest polluting potential in the city of Juazeiro do Norte, Ceara, between 2000 and 2015. Google Earth-Pro software was used as a tool to analyse the problems. Over the years, it was observed that there has been a growing evolution in the city's urbanisation process and, parallel to this, an increase in environmental impact problems, such as: reduction of green areas, generation of solid waste, consequently a reduction in the population's quality of life and an imbalance in ecosystems. Therefore, the resulting lack of urban planning and public policies aimed at organising and regularising space has a negative impact on environmental quality.
