The study aims to identify the information needs for decision-making in Brazilian diplomacy. The needs are analysed according to the professional profile of the diplomat's career inferred from Law 11.440 of 29 December 2006 and the Notice of Competition for Admission to the Diplomat's Career in Brazil. The research is qualitative-quantitative, descriptive in nature and was carried out using bibliographical research, documentary research and a questionnaire. The study considers diplomacy in Brazil, decision-making as an intrinsic characteristic of organisations and information needs as something natural to the exercise of the career of a Brazilian diplomat. It came to the conclusion that information needs have varied and wide-ranging origins and that decision-making techniques are usually used together.
