Approximately 53% of the world's population lives in urban areas and urban green spaces make an important contribution to the quality of life of residents. Furthermore, as a large part of the world's population lives in urban areas, urban forestry plays an important role in providing environmental services and a wide range of economic, ecological and social benefits. Therefore, the proper management of urban trees is essential to achieve these benefits effectively. This publication analyzes the urban afforestation on the campus of the Federal University of Sao Carlos, Sao Carlos - SP. The research was carried out by assembling a geo-referenced database that enabled a spatial diagnosis of afforestation and its conflicts, establishing clear guidelines for activities and actions related to management, including more coherent and informed decision-making on the management of afforestation, serving as an example of planning and management of this important urban component.
