To study the future prospects of India-Central Asia bilateral trade relations in the context to Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.3. Although CARs gained independence in 1991, reliable statistical data for these republics is available only from and after the year 1995. Trade Potential Index (TPI) is calculated to find out the trade potential and trade intensity of India-Central Asia bilateral trade. The results have been presented in tabular form. The index would be analyzed primarily with the data collected from UNComtrade, United Nations International Trade Statistics Database. The other statistical data sources used in the study are the World Bank Database, WTO Databank etc. The trade index calculations have been computed from the 2-digit HS (Harmonized System) level of exports and imports. Trade Potential Index (TPI) Two countries earn long term gains from trade only if they have significant trade potential in each other's market.
