An investigation entitled "Economic Analysis of Production and Marketing of Major Pulse Crops in Kandi belt of Jammu Division". Primary data on area under major pulse crops, costs, production, returns, and information on marketing of the major pulse crops have been collected by interviewing the farmers and different intermediaries in various marketing channels with the help of an especially structured and pretested schedule. The Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR) was highest in case of urd bean crop and it is found to be 1.38 followed by 1.30 and 1.22 in moong bean and Gram crops, respectively. Three types of marketing channels like (1) Producer - Village trader - wholesaler -Retailer - Consumer; (2) Producer - Wholesaler - Retailer - Consumer and (3) Producer -Consumer are found in the study area. Producer's share in Consumer's Rupee was lowest in case of Channel-I followed by Channel-II and it was 100 per cent in the case of Channel-III. The farmers of the study area faced several problems arising from deficiency in their technical knowledge about growing this crop as expressed by them. A portion of their family income comes from these crops enterprise.
