The study investigates the effects of different application rates of poultry manure on maize growth and yield in Benue State, Nigeria in Africa. Given the critical role of maize as a staple crop in Africa and the challenges posed by declining soil fertility and high costs of chemical fertilizers, this research aims to provide insights into sustainable agricultural practices. Field experiments were conducted using a randomized complete block design to assess various rates of poultry droppings on key growth parameters such as plant height, leaf number, and overall yield. Preliminary findings indicate that higher rates of poultry manure significantly enhance vegetative growth and yield attributes compared to control plots, suggesting that organic amendments can be a viable alternative to chemical fertilizers. The results indicate that the potential for poultry manure to improve soil fertility, thereby increasing maize production and supporting local farmers in meeting rising food demands.
