Impressionism was a painting movement that emerged in Paris in 1874 and influenced other artistic manifestations, including literature. In their paintings, artists sought to represent an environment or a scene in such a way as to faithfully capture movement, light and colour. The ephemeral nature of everyday life and sensory resources also inspired the authors of the time, including Eca de Queiros. This work aims to analyse the impressionist marks in Queiros's prose.
