Fopius arisanus Sonan, 1932 is an egg-pupal parasitoid of fruit flies that has been used very successfully in Hawaii. Introduced to Brazil in November 2012 and, in April 2013, at Embrapa Semiarido, it has been the subject of various research studies to adapt it to laboratory rearing under local conditions. The successful use of this species in biological control programs for fruit flies, Bactrocera dorsalis and Ceratitis capitata (Diptera: Tephritidae) in Hawaii, makes its use in the control of B. carambolae in Amapa and C. capitata in the Sao Francisco Valley promising.
