By analysing the decisions made by the Brazilian Army officers participating in the Canudos War in the light of Sun Tzu's millenary recommendations in "The Art of War", this work aims to highlight the military aspects of the conflict, which contributed to the changes that occurred in the strategic, tactical and operational military thinking of the Brazilian Army's military leaders at the beginning of the 20th century.
