If Pilate did not wash his hands before Jesus, then Judas is guilty. This essay attempts to reconstruct a perhaps plausible scenario based on a fact that has never been disqualified as historical: the washing of Pilate's hands. Judas, with respect to his fellow disciples, is comparable only before the death of Jesus, and it is in this historical context that his true stature is revealed.
