El proyecto de las Supermanzanas esta contemplado en el Plan de Movilidad Urbana (PMU) de la ciudad de Barcelona. Esta ordenacion pretende reducir el numero de vehiculos que circulen por el interior de la ciudad substituyendo los actuales carriles de circulacion por vias para los peatones. Pese a ser un concepto amigable para los peatones, hay diferentes actividades que quedaran afectadas por esta ordenacion. Para menguar este problema se propone plantear alternativas donde los peatones sigan ganando espacio y los servicios tengan una afectacion menor.
