Neste trabalho apresentamos definicoes e resultados preliminares sobre a teoria das algebras com identidades polinomiais, que teve inicio na decada de 30 do seculo XX. Alem disso, enunciamos e demonstramos o Teorema de Amitsur-Levitzki em caracteristica zero, que afirma que o polinomio standard de grau 2n e uma identidade polinomial para as algebras matriciais quadradas de ordem n. Por fim, apresentamos uma condicao para que o polinomio Pn(x) seja uma identidade polinomial para a algebra Ma, b(E).
