This book investigates Enani’s Arabic translation of Eggers’ non-fictional book Zeitoun from a socio-pragmatic perspective. It is intended to identify the problems that face the translator, and the strategies he uses to tackle them within the structure of foreignization and domestication. Therefore, Its main goal is to find out the extent of Enani’s neutrality when reproducing the TT in question in the Arabic language. A model of analysis based on Newmark’s taxonomy of cultural-specific items is applied to the TT under investigation. The analysis is performed with strong reference to Grice’s maxims to reach a conclusion concerning the degree of accuracy and conciseness of the meanings reproduced in TT. In addition, the target text is examined in terms of the level(s) of Arabic used by Enani in translation.
