Textbook A. D. Lyublinskoy provides an overview of the main sources for the history of all the countries of Western Europe in the era of feudalism (except Arab Spain and Turkey). Courses of sources in foreign historiography devoted only for individual countries history sources. There was no textbook or review of medieval sources in general and in the pre-revolutionary Russian historical science. The main purpose of this manual is to identify patterns of emergence and development of different types of historical sources in close connection with the general course of development of Europe in the era of feudalism, and in determining what gives a particular source of historians and researchers. The basis of allocation material in parts and chapters put periodization adopted in the general course of history of the middle ages, but with some changes caused by specificity of a subject.
