St. Athanasius the Great was born about 297 in Alexandria, the virtuous Christian family. Since childhood, loving the temple of God, and he in games with peers copied church services. There was a time when St. Athanasius remained the only Orthodox bishop, yet others shied away from grace. More than twenty years of St Athanasius endured persecution and persecution of heretics. Repeatedly his exiled they tried to kill him… But again and again calls upon the faithful to his chair, he continued relentlessly to defend the purity of Orthodoxy. When the emperor Julian the Apostate St. Athanasius was in exile in the Thebaid desert.
