1892 erschien erstmals Georges Rodenbachs Das tote Brugge, das bis heute das bekannteste Werk des belgischen Schriftstellers ist. Der Roman ist jedoch nur einer von vielen, die der Feder des vom Symbolismus gepragten Dichters entsprungen sind. Mit dem Ziel, den Lesern Rodenbachs Werke naher zu bringen, stellt Kurt Glaser in der vorliegenden Ausgabe dessen Romane, Dramen und Lyrik vor. Neben der ausfuhrlichen Darstellung einzelner Werke, diskutiert er auch Rodenbachs Weltanschauung und seine Rolle als symbolistischer Dichter.
