In Anbetracht des Ersten Weltkriegs verfasste Rosa Luxemburg (1871-1919) im Jahr 1915 heimlich im Gefangnis ihre beruhmt gewordene Junius-Broschure, die kurz darauf illegal in Deutschland verbreitet wurde. Sie klagt die kriegerische Verwirklichung imperialistischer Machtinteressen an und kritisiert dabei scharf die Partei der Sozialdemokraten, die statt Widerstand zu leisten aktiv die Kriegshandlungen unterstutzte.
