The picture ensemble shows the baroque living environment of the Netherlands at a time when it experienced an incomparable economic and cultural boom. It documents the integration of legal, art historical and didactic purposes: as Orbis pictus of Roman law, it converts the ideas of mnemonic Ars Magna on tiles and thus becomes a source of images of Roman law: the tiles and drawings obtained based on an idea of
the tile manufacturer Sybrant Feytema are a unique testimony to European legal culture.
