Infrastructure as Architecture: Design Composite Networks

Infrastructure plays a key role in dramatically reformatting our cities. Compared with their original structure the built fabric and spatial reserves over the past one hundred years has left many urban environments almost unrecognisable. The involvement of architects is essential to coherent development of infrastructural design. This volume contains a selection of influential architects and writers who critically evaluate the coupling of these fields. Organised into themes that frame the diverse approaches to the subject, these essays and projects discuss: Infrastructure Economy, Infrastructure Ecology, Infrastructure Culture, Infrastructure Politics and Infrastructure Space/Network.
