Based on field theory and the concept of hybrid media regimes, the dynamic relations between the political and journalistic field during political transition will be analyzed. Bolivia, a country that is undergoing a new transition phase since 2000, is used as the object of a case study. While the success of different social movements has led to a reconfiguration of the political field the balance of power in the journalistic field remains rather unchanged. The study provides an analytical method that can be related to the analyses of media transition as well as comparing media structures.
