This work makes clear that leadership is essential for business success, productivity and savvy about resolving business risk and solving personal vulnerabilities, including health in the work place when responsibilities are undertaken. Sadly one conclusion of the work is that middle managers are often ignored and also women managers in the development process to identify and support leaders needed for agencies and businesses. Better democracy in the workplace is needed. The skills identified to support leadership development need to be the right ones but often the skills suggested by consultants and academics are corporate (desk oriented) only. This often means that leaders can in such an organisation, when operating through those nominated as ambassadors (for example sales staff), may be less effective than needed when resolving outside challenges on the beat including conflicts of opinion of all sorts including political opinions.
