Benjamin Schwalbenkind ist eine kleine Rauchschwalbe. Mit seinen Eltern lebt er in einem Nest unter dem Scheunendach auf einem Bauernhof. Eines Tages ubt er das Fliegen fur die grosse Reise nach Afrika und verirrt sich dabei auf der Flucht vor dem garstigen Mausebussard. Auf einmal ist er weit fort von daheim und ganz auf sich allein gestellt. Er lernt neue Freunde und ihre Lebensweise kennen und besteht viele Abenteuer. Auf der Suche nach dem Heimweg erlebt er schliesslich eine grosse UEberraschung. Diese gewaltfreie Geschichte handelt von Freundschaft, Fairness und Hilfsbereitschaft.
