Eine Reflexion aus Kants handschriftlichem Nachlass, in der von einer anthropologia transcendentalis die Rede ist, loest Verwunderung aus. Bei allen Vorbehalten wegen der Singularitat dieser Formulierung im Kant'schen Werk besitzt die Stelle jedoch eine wichtige Bedeutung und erfordert eine genauere Analyse. Denn in dieser Reflexion erklart Kant auch, dass ein Gelehrter vermeiden musse, ein Cyclop zu werden, das heisst die Phanomene mit nur einem Auge zu betrachten. Jeder Arzt, Theologe, Jurist, selbst Geometer hat Kant zufolge noch ein Auge noetig, welches macht, dass er seinen Gegenstand noch aus dem Gesichtspunkte anderer Menschen ansieht.
