Steven Aalders (b. 1959) is one of the leading Dutch abstract painters of his generation. He is known for his minimal geometric oil paintings. Modernist serial principles are linked to age-old concepts of depicting time and place. His work is about proportion and colour. In his paintings he expresses the rhythm of life. Steven Aalders lives and works in Amsterdam. Among his key exhibitions are Vertical Thoughts in the SMAK in Ghent in 2001, Cardinal Points in the Kunstmuseum in The Hague in 2010, and most recently, Seasons in the Kroeller-Muller Museum in Otterlo, in 2021/2022.
