Der Kodex Askew, der die Pistis Sophia enthalt, ist eine der wenigen Handschriften aus dem 3./4. Jahrhundert, die relativ unzerstoert erhalten blieben. Er wurde zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts von Carl Schmidt herausgegeben und aus dem Koptischen ubersetzt. Diese UEbersetzung wurde hier in eine gut lesbare Form gebracht, die moeglichst nah am originalen Text bleibt.
