In der Strafkolonie ist eine Erzahlung von Franz Kafka, die im Oktober 1914 entstand und 1919 veroeffentlicht wurde. Einem Forschungsreisenden wird das Rechtssystem einer Strafkolonie vorgefuhrt. Es besteht darin, dass jeder Angeklagte nach Festlegung des Urteils, das nicht angezweifelt werden kann, von einem Apparat in minutioesem Ablauf stundenlang gefoltert und dann getoetet wird. Was er zu beherzigen habe, wird ihm in den Leib eingeschrieben. Der bei einer Vorfuhrung anwesende Forschungsreisende verlasst nach dem unerwarteten Ausgang der Exekution umgehend die Insel.
