Die Insektenkunde (Entomologie) ist der Zweig der Zoologie, der sich mit den Insekten (Insecta), der artenreichsten Gruppe von Lebewesen, befasst. Eine Ausbildung als Entomologe gibt es leider heute nicht mehr und im Studium der Biologie, Zoologie und Forstwissenschaft wird die Entomologie, wenn uberhaupt, nur nebensachlich behandelt. Einzig und allein in der Forensik wir die Entomologie als Forensische Entomologie gelehrt. Die Entomologie stellt aber fur zahlreiche andere Teildisziplinen der Biologie bedeutsame Informationen zur Verfugung. Das betrifft vor allem die Teildisziplinen OEkologie, Systematik, Taxonomie, Genetik, Physiologie, Phylogenie etc. Diese Buch eignet sich sehr gut als Erganzung zum naturwissenschaftlichen Studium und als Begleitbuch fur Padagogen im naturwissenschaftlichen Unterricht.
