Growth in agricultural production in the past was achieved through horizontal expansion but today there is little scope for horizontal expansion because of high population density. Hence, future increase in agricultural production could be achieved by increasing the productivity of labor and land and this is possible through the adoption of modern technology and usage of appropriate farm inputs.
