Canadian English is a unique, living organism deeply affected by grandiose varieties of English and other languages as well as a huge array of sociolinguistic and economic factors. Based on the thorough studies of distinguished linguists, this thesis aims to reflect on the evolution of Canadian English, and seeks to give a description of this variety from a phonological, morphosyntactical and lexical point of view by comparing it to the British and American varieties of English and presenting several of its dialects to the readers. Although very little study has been done on this more or less independent and exclusive version of English and it is still awaiting exploration, it is endangered by the aggressive processes of globalization and the loss of certain individual traits, regional varieties and underlying cultural values can be foreseen. This book is meant to document Canadian English thus preserving as much of it as possible, and to help those studying Canadian English to gain easy access to this field of academic research.
