This book contributes to various political debates about Central Europe in terms of its literary-symbolic geography. The author contends that the research about Central Europe must, first of all, be exempted from its mythicisation. The idealisation of a past of monarchical and tolerant coexistence represents a dangerous stereotype to be deconstructed, rather than resurrected.
