Neurolinguistik erforscht den Zusammenhang von Sprache und Gehirn. Dabei besonders aufschlussreich sind Verletzungen und Krankheiten des Gehirns und ihre Auswirkungen, so Sprachpathologien wie Aphasien (etwa nach Schlaganfall) oder Sprachabbau bei Demenzen, aber auch Entwicklungsstoerungen wie zum Beispiel specific language impairment oder Autismus. Hier wird Neurolinguistik zur Klinischen Linguistik. Jetzt geht es allerdings - gerade mit Blick auf Diagnostik und Therapie - nicht mehr nur um Grundlagenfragen, sondern ganz generell um sprachliche Auffalligkeiten (auch etwa im Rahmen des Gesprachsverhaltens bei Epilepsien oder dissoziativen Anfallen oder Angst sowie bei bindungsgestoerten Kindern). Der Band bietet einen Einblick in derzeit zentrale Forschungsfragen der Neurolinguistik.
