Text, Discourse and Society: Functional and Pragmatic Approaches to Language in Use

This book provides a detailed overview of functional and pragmatic approaches to the study of language in use. Edited by three scholars in the field, it comprises chapters written by academics from the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, University of Malaya, who have been teaching these courses at the Masters level. The book is therefore useful for students at the postgraduate level and also suitable for undergraduate linguistic students who wish to know about approaches to and relevant theoretical frameworks for language in use.
