Abweichend von der ursprunglichen Indikation im Rahmen der kontrollierten Anwendung von Clozapin, die lediglich eine Verordnung bei schizophrenen Patienten vorsieht, die nachweislich auf klassische Neuroleptika mit Therapieresistenz oder schweren Nebenwirkungen reagieren, wurde die Indikation fur Clozapin gerade in Deutschland in den vergangenen Jahren und Jahrzehnten betrachtlich erweitert.
