The combination of a biographical study and the analysis of the Reformation network on the Upper Rhine by the Landau reformer Johann Bader shows the development of Protestant theology in the early modern period. Starting from Johann Bader, who worked in the Palatinate imperial city of Landau, this networking and the exchange it requires, and thus the mutual influence between various actors in the Reformation network on the Upper Rhine, can be demonstrated. On the one hand, Bader’s development and his biography become clear, and on the other hand, the (further) development of theological ideas through mutual networking is shown. The biographical study thus contributes to both local research on the history of the Reformation and general research on the Reformation.
