Freedom as Liberating Power

The concept of freedom in the Gospel of Mark reflects the social and political environment of the first century Mediterranean world. The book discusses the concept of freedom in the gospel against the background of the prevalent Roman political ideology. The Res Gestae of Augustus reflects the Roman ideology of freedom (libertas) which was promulgated through-out the Mediterranean world in the first century BE.
