The Hebrew Bible is the product of a continuous process of interpretaton and re-interpretation of historical and theological traditions in Ancient Israel. Biblical texts are rich in texture, giving us a glimpse of ancient life and belief: they are the products of belief in interaction with life. This volume presents some of the results achieved in a research project that investigated the methodological description of the relationship between the socio-historical processes of transformation and the re-interpretation of historical and theological traditions in Ancient Israel. This was done on two levels: on the level of literary history and on a hermeneutical level. The hypothesis tested in this investigation was that the text-pragmatic approach provides an adequate model for the description of this relationship.
