Nonfinite Inquiries: Materials for a Comparative Study of Nonfinite Predicative Domains

This study investigates the properties of nonfinite domains in several unrelated languages, in order to enlarge the range of phenomena relevant to a principled-based approach to nonfiniteness. It puts the emphasis on clause types distinct from infinitives (gerund clauses, Celtic verbo-nominal ones, Latin passive participle constructions, Portuguese inflected infinitives) and takes advantage of the most recent developments in syntactic theory.
